I started writing this on a delayed flight from Madrid to Atlanta unable to sleep, not even with wine. Delta doesn’t explicitly tell you that you can have alcohol and that it’s included but you can and it is.
My husband and I visited Spain for the first time 10 years ago. We went to Barcelona, Sevilla, and Madrid with a quick visit to a village with the same name as our last name. I felt weirdly at home in Sevilla and we’ve been thinking about it ever since.
We later learned that we could potentially move on an non-lucrative visa (commonly known as NLV) and planned to do it in few years. In 2024 we started to realize that the clock is ticking. The older our kids get the harder it will be for them to integrate into the new society. We are also taking care of a parent who has Alzheimer’s and who will only get worse so we may want to move now while she’s still mobile.
This years vacation and our second ever visit to Spain suddenly became a low-key scouting trip.
These notes, in no particular order, are primarily for us to track first impressions and thoughts and by the way, all opinions are my own.
